On July 1, 2000, the Federal Government introduces its new tax system, called the GST, for short.
Chikara Shinai Ryu is a registered business for the GST and as such, we have an Australian Business number, shown above. With the GST comes a 10% tax on nearly all goods and for us, a 10% tax on services. We at Chikara Shinai Ryu will be increasing class fees by $1.00 and all other charges/goods by 10%. At the beginning of this year I said to some of you that instead of me increasing the class fees at the beginning of the year and then another for the GST in July, I would only make one increase. At Winmalee, I started in September, 1991 and at Springwood, I started in September, 1993, I have only had one increase in class fees, and that was only for the Adults. For just under 9 years at Winmalee and just under 7 years at Springwood the class fees have stayed at $3.00 per class for kids/students and the Adults fees have moved from $4.00 to $5.00. My rent fees however have changed every two years. Winmalee$12/night in 1991 to $36/night in 2000 (pre GST) Springwood$42/night in 1993 to $48/night in 2000 (pre GST) My rent at both venues will increase with the GST, but at this date, I still have not been told of the amount of this increase. We still have family discounts for 3 or more students.
We do hand out receipts, which will include our ABN.
